
Surrounded by mountains and river Bhagirathi gushing on one side, NIM Campus has all that can be called a scenic view. The flora and fauna in the campus is well maintained, with several species of birds and beautiful Himalayan garden with plants that grow in high altitude.
NIM campus has a well established training area enabling a superior training experience to all its trainees, it consist of - Outdoor Artificial Walls, Gyan Hall (that houses Indoor Artificial Wall & Gymnasium), Volleyball Court, Basketball Court & Graduation Ground.
For a mountaineering institute like NIM, the resources provided for its trainees and budding mountaineers is very important. Library offers a vast section of books on mountaineering and allied activities and the Equipment Store has the best of mountaineering equipment, wear and gear that is meant for the trainees and rented out to expedition teams.



NIM has a state of the art auditorium with a seating capacity of 250 trainees. The building is named after two very renowned Mountaineer brothers Jai Bahuguna and Harsh Bahuguna.

The Institute has a fully equipped with all moderns and hi tech gadgets Seminar Hall with a capacity of 60 delegates.

“Chaukhamba” the Establishment Block- named after the mighty Badrinath Peaks, houses the Medical Section, NIM Technical Stores, The Dias Memorial Fund Stores, Quarter Master Section and Stores, the Estate Section and the Equipment Manufacturing Unit. This building on four pillars, houses the administrative echelons of the Institute.

Cafeteria “Café Himalaya” also adorns this complex, where light refreshments and snacks are available on payment to the visitors and trainees. It also houses a Cyber Café, where Internet facilities are available, a popular hub of the Institute!

The Administrative Block “Thalay Sagar”-named after one of the most difficult mountains of the Garhwal Himalaya houses the offices of Principal, Vice Principal, Registrar, Accounts Branch, Training Wing, Chief Instructor and the Instructor’s room. The building is an Architects delight!

The museum is thronged by visitors throughout the year. A very popular tourist destination indeed! A new Museum (extension of old museum) Building is proposed at NIM which is under construction

The Pine Bowl houses the imposing 15½ meters, Himalayan International Artificial Climbing Wall which is the venue for the Asia Cup 2004, 13th National Cup 2007 and 1st Uttarakhand Cup 2007. The Pine Bowl is an open-air ampitheatire, located amidst high whispering pines. It is adjoining the Gyan Hall, which provides the participant with ideal warming up and pre competition facilities.
