Finding suitable motion components for mechanical setups

Recently I started reworking a mechanical setup in my workshop that involves a sliding section needing controlled movement, and the manual mechanism I used before is no longer giving stable results. When the load shifts, the travel becomes uneven, and sometimes the section stalls halfway, which makes the whole system unreliable. Since the frame is still solid, I’m looking into switching to an electric option that can handle repeated cycles without requiring a full redesign, but I’m unsure which motion components are suitable for mechanical systems that depend on consistent positioning.

When I checked https://progressiveautomations.com.au/pages/mechanical-systems designed for modern Mechanical Systems Actuators setups, it became clear how linear actuators and lifting columns provide controlled movement, stable positioning and durability for different mechanical assemblies. Seeing how these components integrate into platforms or sliding sections made selecting a compatible actuator much easier.
